Being healthy doesn’t just mean eating right, it means choosing to live in ways that enhance your life. Sound overwhelming? It’s not! Here are a few tips on how to incorporate healthy living into your lifestyle:
Stay at home mom? Get out the stroller and work those glutes with a long walk. Ease into the hills. Look into mothers groups in your area so you don’t have to go alone.
Like to be social? Exercising in groups is always more successful because people are counting on you to show up. You’re also likely to exercise for a longer period of time because you’re talking and working out at the same time.
Stuck in the office? Take advantage of your surroundings and bring your walking shoes to work. Walking for even 10 minutes three times a day is beneficial. It gets you moving and clears your head. Get up from your desk often and stretch. Try bringing in some hand weights so you can work your arms in the comfort of your desk area.
Need family time? Make a point to do outdoor activities with your family in tow. Weekends are a great time for family walks, hikes and other activities that get you moving.
It’s important to keep your mind strong and clear to help keep the rest of your life in order. Take five minutes out of your day to do some deep breathing and not think about anything else. After doing this, think about the things you need to accomplish that day—and just do those. Set realistic goals. Don’t overextend. Do this and your family will thank you.
This is easiest to let slip, especially if you don’t plan ahead. If you’re running late, the drive-through can be tempting. Don’t get sucked in! Shop and plan your meals on Sunday for the rest of the week. Prepare as much as possible in advance so you spend less time during the week but are still able to have healthy, nutritious and great tasting meals ready to go for you and your family.
